Release notes are a summation of updates or notices for a product, such as a new software release.
Release notes also explain any anomalies and provide simple procedures to minimize unexpected results.
Traditionally, companies use ASCII text for software release note. Wherever possible, however, we recommend Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF).
Release notes in PDF allow graphics and, if required, animations to be included. A PDF file is also highly-searchable and may include hyperlinked terms, such as from an Index, to the relevant section.
Existing documentation may be converted to PDF.
